Angela’s service as a board member of Hacienda is informed by a long career in non-profit advocacy and a proven track record in policy development, coalition building and communications strategy. She is an experienced campaign and coalition manager who understands how to build diverse and strategic coalitions as well as activate them for maximum effectiveness inside and outside the Capitol.

Angela is a skilled public speaker who has logged many hours appearing on local radio as a guest commentator and presented to audiences of all sizes. Her progressive credentials include leading a broad coalition of faith leaders and social service advocates in support of stronger consumer protection laws, and directing the successful passage of foreclosure reform as the Executive Director of Economic Fairness Oregon.

She lives in NE Portland with her partner Arielle Clark and their dog Cleo. Together they enjoy exploring Oregon’s backcountry and hidden treasures.

Jocelyn is a Business Operations Manager at Intel Corporation. Born in Venezuela from a mixed-race Venezuelan/British family, bilingual/bi-cultural, Jocelyn has navigated corporate America as a Latina woman for over 20 yrs. Jocelyn has worked in three Fortune 500 tech companies and in 2010 was awarded a Social Service leave to work as Director of Operations for Hacienda CDC. Ten years later, coming full circle, she joined the Hacienda Board of Directors in July 2020. Jocelyn believes that education is the main driver of forward social economic progress and has always been committed to finding ways to help Latino communities thrive.

Jocelyn holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Oregon. A mom of two amazing kids, she can often be found enjoying the outdoors, good food or planning her next family vacation.

Peter is the founder and family co-owner of Andina, the award-winning Peruvian eatery located in Portland’s Pearl District. Since opening its doors in 2003, Andina has grown to become the largest independently owned restaurant in Portland and the third-largest Hispanic owned business in Oregon. Now in transition to becoming a certified B-Corporation, Andina will continue to grow as a social enterprise supporting the creation of a more socially and environmentally responsible food value chain, both at home and in Peru. Peter recently graduated from the Yale School of Management with a concentration in social entrepreneurship. He also serves on the Board of the Oregon Food Bank.

Hansary Laforest is a trial attorney with Sussman Shank LLP, a business law firm in Portland. As part of Sussman Shank’s litigation group, Hansary’s practice focuses on handling civil and commercial litigation disputes across a variety of industries. The scope of the matters he handles ranges from tort litigation to complex contractual disputes. He has obtained favorable outcomes in several pre-and post-trial hearings. In 2020, Hansary was named as a 2020 Rising Star by Super Lawyers. Hansary has over nine years of experience as a trial attorney, having tried cases in New York, where he first began his career as a prosecutor, and Texas, where he handled criminal defense and family law disputes.

Throughout his career, Hansary has proudly served as a board member for several civic and community-based organizations. Hansary serves on the Service to the Public Committee for the Young Lawyers Section of the Multnomah Bar Association and the Executive Committee for the Oregon State Bar’s Civil Rights Section.

Amanda Manjarrez is a visionary and creative leader with nearly two decades of experience advocating for progressive causes, fostering equitable systems, and promoting good governance. Known for her unwavering commitment to prioritizing the voices and experiences of communities disproportionately affected by injustice, Amanda's leadership style is characterized by a strategic approach and a deep understanding of complex systems and social issues.

Originally from New Mexico, Amanda honed her skills leading progressive electoral campaigns and spearheading numerous public policy initiatives addressing economic justice, climate action, healthcare, immigrant rights, and democracy reform. As the Chief Strategist at the Center for Civic Policy, she played a pivotal role in building statewide civic engagement infrastructure, leveraging her expertise in navigating complex systems and fostering cross-sector coalitions to implement high-impact policy strategies.

Since relocating to Oregon in 2013, Amanda has been a driving force in supporting BIPOC-led organizations to advocate for community-led priorities and racial justice initiatives at all levels of government. In her roles as the inaugural Advocacy Director for the Coalition of Communities of Color, Latino Network, and most recently, as the Director of Public Policy & Government Affairs at Foundations for a Better Oregon, Amanda has led the design and implementation of programming and initiatives that have significantly advanced equity and inclusion in Oregon's public education system.

In addition to her advocacy work, Amanda runs a consulting practice focused on designing system change strategies that are sustainable, equity driven, and impactful. Drawing on her expertise in strategy design, policy and legal analysis, facilitation, program development, fundraising, campaign and event planning, Amanda has supported organizations across sectors to achieve meaningful and lasting change.

Amanda holds a J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School (Class of 2016) and is an active member of the New Mexico State Bar with a law practice focusing on election law and nonprofit advocacy. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Oregon Center for Public Policy and the State of Oregon's Educator Advancement Council.

Mayra is the Chief Shared Prosperity Officer at the Port of Portland. As the lead for the Shared Prosperity Division, she manages a multidisciplinary team to execute policies, programs, and processes that ensure transparent and inclusive practices. Prior coming to the Port, Mayra worked at the Oregon Department of Education - Office of Enhancing Student Opportunities as Director of Resource Management and Operations. Before ODE, Mayra held leadership roles at Prosper Portland and United Way of the Columbia Willamette. In addition, Mayra is a current board member of the Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC), and holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Portland State University. Mayra was born and raised in Mexico and came to the US as a young professional. She lives in Portland with her wife and two children.

Maria’s extensive experience includes two terms as a Multnomah County Commissioner where, among many initiatives, she originated and co-chaired the County’s Vital Aging Task Force. Her experience extends to management of contracting and management services. Maria has managed a staff of 500 with a 275 million dollar budget. She has developed and implemented public sector budgets and fiscal procedures. She has also been responsible for contract negotiation for rental/use of facilities and services including the Expo Center and Civic Stadium (now Providence Park). She has extensive media communication experience, management of event services, operations, sales and marketing.

As a private business owner, Maria was the President and Owner of ALMAR Contracting, LLC. Her company was a state certified WBE/MBE business. With over 20 employees and using subcontractors, the company renovated and repair multi-family housing apartment buildings.

Today, Maria serves as the Regional Director of EngAGE NW. EngAGE takes a whole-person approach to community and creative, healthy living by providing arts, wellness, lifelong learning, community building and intergenerational programs to thousands of residents in affordable senior and multi-generational apartment communities.

Prior to moving to Portland in 1987, Ms. Padilla Andrews served as Secretary of State for New Mexico. She was instrumental in starting many nonprofit organizations, including Hacienda Community Development Corporation, Latino Network, and Las Amigas de Nuevo Mexico. Her visionary strategic collaboration with others has led to real progress on initiatives that benefit the Latino and other communities. The Villa de Clara Vista apartment complex has been named for Ms. Padilla Andrews’ tireless advocacy for housing equity. Congresswoman Elizabeth Furse recognized Ms. Padilla Andrews for her numerous community contributions on the floor of House of Representatives, in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Issue, Vol. 143 No138.

Ms. Padilla Andrews has dedicated most of her life to achieving social justice and equity for the underserved communities in New Mexico and Oregon. She is committed to informing and educating the Latino community about important issues that affect their lives daily.

Ms. Padilla Andrews is a recipient of numerous awards including the first woman to receive the Congressional Hispanic Distinguished Service Award, Russell Award, Walk Your Talk Award and many more recognitions. She has served on many Boards and Commission including MANA, a National Latina Organization, National Hispanic Leadership Agenda (NHLA), Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR), National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP), National Press Club, and many more local boards.
